Effective Herbal Acne Treatments

Most people consider herbal acne treatments to be a secondary choice for treating pimples and other skin blemishes. What they are unaware of is that most all commercially produced acne treatment products contain some type of herbal ingredient. Herbal acne treatments for many years have proven to be a very effective way to keep your skin blemish free and looking great.
There are a lot of citrus fruits that are used in acne fighting products. Many citrus fruits contain antioxidants that will prevent both skin damage and blemishes. Perfect examples would be lemons and oranges. You can decide to dilute the citrus of your choice with warm water then dab the mixture onto the areas of your face. You should allow the mixture to threat the areas on your face affected by acne for at least three minutes but no longer then five minutes. Then you should gently rinse your face off with lukewarm water.
Garlic is well known for its antibacterial properties. You can rub raw garlic directly onto the areas of your face that have been affected by acne. Garlic has been shown to have successfully removed such skin irritations as acne and boils.
The consumption of both garlic and citrus fruits will help to cleanse the blood, which will help to prevent acne breakouts.
Fenugreek is another herb that has been shown to effectively treat acne. You can prepare a paste made out of the fenugreek leaves and apply it to the affected areas on your face every night. Leave the fenugreek paste that you applied to your face on while you sleep and then wash it off with warm water when you wake up in the morning.
If you grate up a cucumber and apply it to your face for at least fifteen minutes it can greatly reduce the chances of you having a breakout of pimples or blackheads.
Other herbs that are extremely useful in the removal of acne include green tea, lavender and tea tree oil. All of the contain beneficial anti-bacterial properties that will help to treat breakouts while also preventing infections.
In addition to using topical herbal acne treatments you should also introduce enough vitamins and minerals into your diet Vitamin A, zinc and niacin have all been found to be effective in the treatment of acne. You can take vitamin supplements of around 100mg two times every day.
